Welcome

Welcome to the Beechworth Camera Club Post Processing Editing workshops.

Starting Saturday 20 May were are going to explore the world of post processing in photography. We hope you can come along.

There is a distinct workflow in photography, consisting of three phases; before, during and after.

  • Before represents the planning for a photo shoot, thinking about why, where, when and how. This ensures that you have the right camera, lens and associated equipment for the job to capture the images to meet your objectives.

  • During is the thinking you undertake as you take your photos; ISO, aperture, speed, focus and composition. Plus!

  • After represents what you do with your photos. This is the focus of this web site. There is probably more involved in this end of the workflow than there is with the prior two.

How you process your photos depends on what equipment you used when you took them, for example, phone, digital or film camera. Here we will explore processing photos from phone and digital camera.

What you do with your photos, no matter what platform you use for processing is pretty much the same.

Processing with all applications involves adjusting

  • light

  • colour

  • sharpness

It also involves cropping and removing unwanted artefacts from your images.

We will systematically describe these processes for phone and camera on iPhones, Android devices, iPads and computers.

Have some images ready as you read through these explanations and experiment on them with the different processes involved. There are a lot of them and it takes a while to work out which ones are best to use. There is a lot of valuable learning resources on the Internet. So Google and more importantly U-tube to sort out what you want to know.

We are planning a series of night time workshops to go through the underlying processes and how they are used in the Apple Photo, Google Photo and Affinity applications.

Learn by doing, talk it over with others and have fun.
